Phyllis Jean Elliott, age 89, of Cicero, IN and formerly of Evansville, IN died November 19, 2017 at home.

She was born August 22, 1928 at Hymera, IN to Hershel Edgar and Ruth Marie (Coleman) Swayne.

She was a graduate of Bloomington High School, then earned an R.N. Degree at Union Hospital at Terre Haute, IN. As a registered nurse, she had worked over 40 years at St. Mary's Hospital at Bloomington, IN.

Phyllis was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church at Evansville and of the Methodist Women's Group. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She loved to travel and became a world traveler, visiting all seven continents.

She married Jesse Leon Elliott on August 7, 1955. He preceded her in death June 7, 2011. In addition to her husband and her parents she was also preceded in death be a daughter: Judy Berry and three brothers.

Surviving her is a daughter: Ruth Ann (Jan) Hoch of Cicero, IN, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, November 24, 2017 at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the services. Burial will occur at a later date at Hymera Cemetery. You may send condolences at www.hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
