A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Cicero Cemetery on June 8, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. for the burial of the cremated remains of Jerald Lee and Peggy Mae Louks. The honors detail of the Cicero American Legion will provide military rites for Mr. Louks.

Jerald Lee Louks age 78 of Harlingen, Texas was born August 31, 1922 at Cicero, IN to James and Grace (Breece) Louks. He graduated from Cicero High School followed by honorably serving his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was in battles and campaigns in the western Pacified region, southern Philippines, New Guinea, northern Solomon Islands, and Bismark Archipalago. He was awarded the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was inducted into service November 16, 1942 and honorably discharged October 27, 1945.

He was a life-long member of the American Legion of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Peggy Maye Louks was born September 29, 1928 at Bristow, Oklahoma to Alfred L. and Sylvia (Bailey) Felton. Upon her marriage to Jerald Lee Louks, they made their home in Cicero, IN. Peggy worked at Firestone Rubber Products Company at Noblesville, IN for many years doing the following jobs: secretary, customer service and handling personnel services. Jerald worked as a quality control manager for WABCO, a division of Westinghouse Corporation at Indianapolis, IN.

Together they enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and interacting with their family. After retiring they moved from Cicero to Harlingen, TX to be near family that was living there.

Jerald passed away February 12, 2001 and Peggy passed away September 16, 2017. Cremation was their choice of disposition with burial in Cicero Cemetery near their original home. Their parents also preceded them in death.

Surviving them are three sons: Gary W. Louks of Harlingen, TX, Joe David Louks of Fosston, MN, and Sterling E. "Sibo" Louks of Strawtown, IN plus several grandchildren. Their sons related that their parents were modest people who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
