Eugene "Bud" Baitz

Eugene "Bud" Baitz, age 94, of Atlanta, IN passed away March 19, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor at Tipton, IN.

He was born May 29, 1923 near Atlanta, IN to Arthur Henry and Ruth Magdalene (Langolf) Baitz.

He graduated from Arcadia High School with the Class of 1941 where he played center on the basketball team that won the Hamilton County Tourney. After completing high school he attended Central Normal College at Danville, IN.

Bud was a life-long farmer, an occupation he loved and in which he worked hard. He raised row crops along with tending to livestock, and involved his children in both.

He was a member of Hobbs United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and church board member. He also was a member and past president of the Hamilton County 4-H Council.

He married Phyllis Jane (Gunning) Baitz on June 23, 1945. She preceded him in death June 10, 2006. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a son: Dennis Baitz, a brother: Francis Baitz and a sister: Imogene Sloan.

Surviving him is a daughter: Linda Jane Baitz of Atlanta, IN and two sons: David (Tammy) Baitz of Arcadia, IN and Danny Lee Baitz of Atlanta, IN, grandchildren Leslie (Chris) Robinson and Andrew (fiance`Andrea Ehrie) Baitz, plus great-grandchildren: Brittney, Olivia, Grant, Tanner, Patton and Rylynn.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with Pastor Dennis Lafferty officiating. Burial will follow at Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
