Edward Charles Meyer, age 86, of Fishers, IN and formerly of Indianapolis, IN, died May 26, 2017 at Prairie Lakes Health Campus at Noblesville, IN.

He was born June 4, 1930 at Indianapolis to William H. and Florence Leora (Hartman) Meyer. He was a graduate of Southport High School with the Class of 1948.

Edward was one of eight children who worked from a young age with their parents on their Bluff Road Truck Farm. They grew vegetables and flowers of all kinds that they sold at the Indianapolis City Market. The farm known as Meyer Greenhouses consisted of several acres that eventually became irrigated enabling the family to grow and sell additional produce. Edward attested to the fact that everyone in the family worked hard, even the young ones pulled weeds.

Upon leaving the farm, Edward was a beverage distributor working for Pepsi Cola Company for twenty years, then for Monarch Beverage Company for 46 years. He also continued to garden on a smaller scale, growing vegetables and flowers again for personal use. He was an avid fan of the Pacers and the Colts teams.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church at Noblesville, IN.

He married Carole Kay (Clifford) Meyer. She survives him. Additional survivors include two daughters: Kathy (Barry) Kidd of Greenwood, IN and Deborah (Robert) Montfort of Greenwood, IN, a son: Donald Edward Meyer of Fillmore, IN, step-sons: Tim House of Holiday, FL, Tom House of Atlanta, IN, and Curt House of Stanford, KY, step-daughters: Tina Coffman of Lawrenceburg, KY, and Tammy Jones of Fishers, IN, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Graveside rites will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Cicero Cemetery with Elder John Knapp officiating.
